FYN and Salsify at the Roundhouse have each climbed 17 places in the 2026 extended ranking from the organisation behind The World’s 50 Best Restaurants.
FYN moves from No.82 to No.65, while Salsify rises from No.88 to No.71. The two Cape Town restaurants are the only South African entries in the 51–100 list, which was released ahead of the main awards ceremony in Lima.
For diners, the result puts two different Cape Town dining experiences in the spotlight. At FYN, chef-founder Peter Tempelhoff and his team bring modern African cooking together with Japanese culinary thinking. The restaurant sits on the fifth floor of Speaker’s Corner in the city centre, and its name is inspired by fynbos, a connection to the Cape that also runs through its ingredients. A recently featured Sea Plants course pairs octopus with nori, white mussels with hijiki, and abalone with kelp.
Salsify’s setting is the historic Roundhouse in Camps Bay, between the Atlantic and Lion’s Head. Executive chef Ryan Cole and head chef Nina du Toit build a seasonal tasting menu around local ingredients, with the current ten-course menu including kingklip with confit oyster and prenia, and springbok with heerenbone and wild garlic.
The next announcement comes on 4 November, when the top 50 is scheduled to be revealed in Lima.
